March 9, 2020

Our next Gathering will be a trip to the acclaimed Suquamish Museum on Saturday March 28th.

We'll carpool to Suquamish on Saturday morning, March 28th, leaving the Olympia Unitarian Universalist Congregation (2315 Division St NW, Olympia 98502) parking lot at 11am. Please be there by 10:45am. It will be close to a 2 hour drive.

We will visit the acclaimed museum for an hour or so on our own, as there is no tour guide available on the weekend. However, after our visit, we will meet with two members of the tribe who will tell us about their heritage and answer questions for about an hour.

Museum admission is $3/person for the day, a special group rate. Please bring a car lunch, or food to snack on during the day.

This is a unique opportunity to participate in a FREE miniature drum making workshop with Laura VerMeulen (Tlingit). Announcement:
Netse Mot Day postponed
new date TBA

Netse Mot for Xq'ullemy 2020 has been postponed from original date of March 21st due to coronavirus. Click here to view website, where announcements will be made about future date.

Netse Mot for Xw'ullemy means "One heart, one mind for the Salish Sea." At Netse Mot 2020, people from all walks of life will gather together to support Indigenous-led efforts to save the Salish Sea.

The Salish Sea is in a state of emergency. The salmon runs are disappearing, qwe'lhol'mechen (the killer whales) are dying, and people are suffering. We wish to impress upon the government and upon the public that we must act now and that we must act together to heal the Salish Sea. We are all connected, we all share one heart and one mind in this regard.

The people who have lived in a reciprocal relationship with this place since time immemorial have the ancestral knowledge of how to best take care of this place. Netse Mot is an inclusive event that underscores the need for Indigenous leadership and ancestral Native teachings.
