To kick off our Fall Gathering series, Learning Right Relations will be meeting this Sunday, September 29th for a special tour of the Munro family property, which has been given the name "quot gwes," meaning "Gathering Place." This major ancient harvesting and processing site is one of several ancestral locations of the Squi-Aitl people who inhabited the entire Eld Inlet watershed.

This is an incredibly rare opportunity to have a personal tour from former Secretary of State Ralph Munro about the archeological dig and the fascinating history of the land.

RSVP is required for this event! Attendance is limited to 20 people. Please email learningrightrelations@gmail.com as soon as possible to guarantee a spot if you would like to join us, and you will receive details about car pool.

The tour will begin between 2 - 2:30pm and end with a salmon dinner at 4pm. Dress for the weather, as the tour is all outdoors and dinner will be in their barn. Please bring a dish to share for the meal, as well as $5-20 suggested donation.

If you have any questions, please feel free email learningrightrelations@gmail.com!

Statement from organizers: "Our Coast Salish First Peoples made sacred promises to our SCHAYNEXW (Salmon People), our QELTHLOLMECHEN (Orca people), our SMYETH (Deer people) and to all the children of our XA,XE TENGOXW (Sacred Mother Earth), human and non-human that all would be kept well until the end of time through deep respect and a giving back to the circle of life. Now it is everyone's turn to make this promise and act upon it."

“I believe in the sun and the stars, the water, the tides, the floods, the owls, the hawks flying, the river running, the wind talking. They’re measurements. They tell us how healthy things are. How healthy we are. Because we and they are the same”
