Greetings to all!

Dear Douglas,
Click here to register for tomorrow's event with Thurston Climate Action Team (TCAT), featuring Earth-Feather Sovereign of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women Washington. The webinar is tomorrow, Thursday December 3rd at 7pm via Zoom.

Announcement from TCAT:

Earth-Feather Sovereign, of the Okanogan, Sanpoil and Nespelem Bands of the Colville Confederated Tribes, founder of MMIWWashington, will be speaking to us about Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women.

Native women are kidnapped, assaulted and many murdered at an alarmingly disproportionate 10 times higher rate to other women. Murder (predominately by non-Native people) is the third highest cause of death for Native women! Police seem to pay little attention to their disappearances, often regarding them as not from their jurisdiction, and so the burden of not knowing what has happened to their loved one, whether they are alive or dead, is added to the woes of the family.

TCAT has invited you to this webinar because we are aware that the worker camps around the North Dakota XL pipeline have led to many disappeared women in that area, and the same mind set that allows for rape and destruction of Native bodies (and lands) also underlies our climate crisis. In October, a bill, Savana’s Act, just passed through Congress that will bring some help to this situation. Come learn more about this.

What you can do immediately:
Traditionally, Native American gift giving in a sacred manner has always been part of Native culture. Giving and receiving a blanket is one of the highest forms of respect in honoring someone. MMIWW would like to give away blankets with their logo on to survivors, families, and community members. Helping to bless others by giving and honoring, will be a blessing for you, your families, and your organizations." You are invited to support the MMIWW Blanket Project. Your donation is your gift of blankets to MMIW Washington. Checks may be made out to Learning Right Relations, with MMIWW Blanket on the memo line. Mail to LRR, 5515 40th Ave SW, Olympia, WA 98512. Or online donations may be made at gofundme.com/MMIWW - blanket.

We hope to see you there!
