June 1, 2020

Please join us! Register for our upcoming online Gathering on June 7th.

This is truly a powerful moment in US history, with many people waking up to the pervasive oppression that has been a daily reality for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color for centuries. We know that the roots of these injustices go deep and are a part of the Code of Domination that we were so fortunate to discuss last month with Steven Newcomb and his daughter Shawna Bluestar Newcomb.

We invite you to deepen the conversation this Sunday June 7th from 12noon-2:00pm Pacific Time around Dismantling the Doctrine of Discovery and why this is now so crucial. We will be again screening The Doctrine of Discovery: Unmasking the Domination Code, with a presentation and conversation after about local efforts towards Truth and Conciliation / Dismantling the Doctrine of Discovery with Washington State leaders in these efforts, Deb Cruz and Jonathan Neufeld.

This event will be happening online, and you will need to register to get a link. Click here to register for Sunday June 7th Online Gathering.

Systemic Racism & The Doctrine of Discovery:

Indigenous organizations NDN Collective, IllumiNative and Native Organizers Alliance call for justice for #GeorgeFloyd and an end to systemic racism. Click here to read their joint statement.

"The USA needs a national dialogue on race, gender and class. A national Truth and Conciliation Commission on par with the TRCs of South Africa, Rwanda and Canada. We don't only need justice for #GeorgeFloyd, we need justice for 244 years of institutionalized white supremacy." -Mark Charles, Navajo. Mark Charles is co-author of the book Unsettling Truths: The Ongoing, Dehumanizing Legacy of the Doctrine of Discovery. Mark Charles has announced that he is running as an Independent for President of the United States in 2020. Click here to watch his announcement video.

In a talk at the 2019 Gospel and Race Conference, Mark Charles outlines the history of the Christian church from Jesus to the modern-day heresy of American Christian Empire, making it very clear why the church has been silent for so, so long on issues of "multi-generational, corporate sins" like slavery, genocide, police brutality and systemic racism.
